Jackson County Cultural Coalition 2023 Grantees

The Jackson County Cultural Coalition Board awarded a total of $35,000 in grants to the following Jackson County organizations for 2023 projects and activities:

Anima Mundi – $3,000
Supporting Among Sisters, a pair of concerts celebrating women-identifying composers and performers, as part of the Heart of Humanity concert series.

Applegate Evening Market – $3,000
Supporting the market as a rural placemaking and community building project to support local food, arts, music, and culture.

Applegate Partnership – $3,000
For a permanent memorial site to Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim, of the Rogue River Takelma Tribe, at Cantrall Buckley Park.

Ashland Folk Collective – $3,000
In support of hiring a part-time Operations Manager, to increase their capacity to deliver concerts, track and evaluate programs, and offer educational programs.

Ashland High Arts Advocates – $2,000
For the expansion of the Student Arts Mentoring project that provides opportunities for underserved K-12 youth in a 100-square mile area around Ashland.

Ashland New Plays Festival – $3,000
For focused anti-bias training for festival board, readers, staff, and volunteers.

Big Butte Historical Society – $1,500
To support the society’s efforts to preserve and share Butte Falls’ heritage.

Boys and Girls Club – $2,000
In support of the Junior Picasso Club, a summer experience that teaches youth in grades 2-6 various art mediums and techniques.

Guitar Society – $1,400
To help the society bring an internationally acclaimed classical guitarist to southern Oregon to teach in local classrooms and perform in the community.

Jacksonville Community Center – $1,200
To support writing programs for adults and young people at the community center.

McKee Bridge Historical Society – $2,400
To fund the development and installation of durable educational and interpretive signs in the oldest section of Logtown Cemetery.

Rogue Theater – $1,000
To support the 2023 production of An Iliad, an adaptation of Homer’s The Iliad.

Rogue Valley SMART Read - $2,500
For culturally relevant books for local children and families. 

Rogue Valley Symphonic Band – $1,000
In support of additional concerts in Medford to allow more students and families to attend in a more centrally located and accessible location.

Southern Oregon Repertory Singers – $2,000
To help expand the accessibility of the organization’s music through live-streaming concerts.

Talent Historical Society – $3,000
To support the translation into Spanish of stories collected relating to the impact of the Almeda Fire.

These grants are made possible by a Cultural Participation Grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust, supporting the arts, heritage and humanities.
