Jackson County Cultural Coalition 2021 Grantees
The Jackson County Cultural Coalition Board awarded a total of $27,030 in grants to the following Jackson County organizations for 2021 projects and activities:
Anima Mundi – $3,000
Supporting a new work of choral music Six Feet Apart: Stories of Resilience and Transformation.
Ashland Children’s Theatre – $3,000
Supporting the Teen Mystery Theatre Production.
Ashland New Plays Festival – $1,500
For the production of play readings supporting BIPOC playwrights through the podcast Play4Keeps.
Ballet Folklorico – $2,750
Supporting cultural and educational opportunities for youth 6-18.
Heart and Hope Musical Ministries – $1,500
Supporting a virtual, therapeutic program enhancing quality of life for vulnerable people, elders and those with special needs.
Historic Jacksonville – $2,030
In support of self-guided tours at The Beekman House Museum.
Kapioanuenue (Ashland Hula School) – $1,500
Supporting a retreat for 30-50 participants titled Malama Ka ‘Aina: Building Resiliency and community through Hawaiian Cultural Practices and Immersion in Nature.
McKee Bridge Historical Society – $1,500
For printed materials on the Upper Applegate History Trail, oriented around the extended McKee family.
Multicultural Association of Southern Oregon – $3,000
For Upriver to Morning, a muti-faceted educational resource inspired by the teachings of local Takelma elder, Agnes Baker Pilgrim.
Rogue Valley Chorale – $1,000
To present Carmina Burana in a "COVID-safe" concert.
Rogue Valley Genealogical Society – $500
For three online seminars with nationally known genealogical speakers.
Rogue Valley SMART Read - $3,000
For culturally relevant books for local children and families.
Southern Oregon Historical Society - $1,250
To initiate a website Explore Southern Oregon History (explore.sohistory.org)
Wanderlust Theatre Company – $1,500
In support of an outdoor adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula
These grants are made possible by a Cultural Participation Grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust, supporting the arts, heritage and humanities.
